Savi Technology Names William Maggs as New Chief Technology Officer

Maggs Brings to Savi a Deep History of Technology Expertise from Palm, Sony Ericsson and Motorola

ALEXANDRIA, VA. – Aug. 19, 2010 – Savi Technology, a Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] company and leading provider of low-power wireless solutions to manage supply chains and smart assets, today announced that William Maggs will join the leadership team in the newly created position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).  Maggs, who also becomes Savi Technology’s Senior Vice President (SVP)-Technology Operations, formerly was CTO at Palm, Inc., and worked at mobile handset companies Motorola and Sony Ericsson in Advanced Technology and ecosystem development roles.

In his role as CTO and SVP at Savi Technology, Maggs will be the chief catalyst for innovation as well as the focal point for all technology operations throughout the global company, including the design, development and delivery of wireless products and complete software solutions in public sector and commercial markets. Maggs also oversees the Savi Technology Innovation Lab and operations involving product manufacturing, supply chain management and supplier relationships. (more…)

Savi Technology Unveils System-on-a-Chip to Streamline Development Of Active Radio Frequency Identification Hardware

SoC Also Offered to Developers to Extend Supply Chain Tracking Applications

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – June 30, 2010 – Savi Technology, a Lockheed Martin company [NYSE: LMT] providing real-time supply chain and asset management solutions, today unveiled a state-of-the-art Radio Frequency system-on-a-chip (SoC) about the size of a dime that streamlines design and development processes of DASH7 RFID-based tracking devices.

Savi’s new active RFID SoC combines three different microprocessor chips onto one silicon chip package, which dramatically consolidates and simplifies the integration of electrical circuitry used to process and store data on RFID tags and readers.  As a result, the design and manufacturing processes of standards-based active RFID hardware and enabling solutions are speedier and more cost-effective while also maintaining the full functionality and memory of Savi’s industry-leading hardware.
