Defense suppliers who are I-GUIDES customers get free software upgrades;  New customers get easy-to-implement introductory offers

ORLANDO, Fla.  – Sept. 7, 2010 – Savi Technology, a Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] company, today announced I-GUIDES™ 4, which enables suppliers to comply with new data formats required by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) in its IUID policy mandating that key items be marked with a unique identification code.  Suppliers who don’t update their solutions will be unable to communicate with the DoD IUID Registry after Dec. 31, resulting in non-compliance with contract requirements.  (more…)

Maggs Brings to Savi a Deep History of Technology Expertise from Palm, Sony Ericsson and Motorola

ALEXANDRIA, VA. – Aug. 19, 2010 – Savi Technology, a Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] company and leading provider of low-power wireless solutions to manage supply chains and smart assets, today announced that William Maggs will join the leadership team in the newly created position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO).  Maggs, who also becomes Savi Technology’s Senior Vice President (SVP)-Technology Operations, formerly was CTO at Palm, Inc., and worked at mobile handset companies Motorola and Sony Ericsson in Advanced Technology and ecosystem development roles.

In his role as CTO and SVP at Savi Technology, Maggs will be the chief catalyst for innovation as well as the focal point for all technology operations throughout the global company, including the design, development and delivery of wireless products and complete software solutions in public sector and commercial markets. High value assets and their movements are of particular interest to operations managers responsible for the usage of these assets within their facilities. There are many options and approaches for managing these assets. Savi Technology’s methodology is to take a “process approach” and let the process dictate the technology that best fits the application. Understanding a process is like understanding the terrain of a racing track. If you don’t spend time studying it, you may find yourself throwing a 12-cylinder turbo charged BMW onto an unpaved, off-road downhill and off a cliff.
